The Air Admittance Valve is a one-way mechanical vent designed to allow air into a drainage system without requiring a roof penetration, providing a practical alternative to traditional vent piping.

As wastewater flows through the drain pipes, it creates negative pressure in the system — the valve automatically opens to admit air, preventing trap seals from being siphoned dry and helping wastewater drain smoothly. Once water flow stops and pressure equalises, the valve closes under gravity, preventing sewer gases from escaping into the building. This mechanical operation requires no electricity or manual intervention.

Reducing the need for roof penetrations helps lower installation costs and reduces the risk of roof leaks over time, making this valve especially useful for fixtures located far from existing vent stacks, or where running traditional vent pipe through walls, attics, and roofs isn't practical. Note that at least one traditional stack vent penetrating the roof is still required for the overall system.

Finished in white, this single-size valve is suitable for use with both 40mm and 50mm pipe in sewer and vent applications. Manufactured to comply with Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1260, and Watermark certified, this valve is designed for dependable, long-term performance in non-pressure drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications.
